Would you like to be a part of an urban agriculture project, and the local food movement? Would you like to help improve the natural environment in Guelph while beautifying the city? Come and join us! We are looking for volunteers from all walks of life who are eager to help out! You can learn about organic farming methods and the intricacies of farming within a city.
We are looking for people of all ages and all backgrounds who can dedicate any amount of time to helping us out from the beginning to the end of the season. If you can dedicate a few hours at a time on a consistent basis we would greatly appreciate it. This is also a great opportunity for class trips, or for completing your 40 hours of volunteering for high school. All you really need is the interest to come out, help and learn, and a pair of rubber boots!
Farming skills you can learn include building soil health, seeding, transplanting, identifying weeds and plants, harvesting and saving seeds.
Opportunities to help behind the scenes include event planning, promotions, program development and newsletters.
In return, you will be able to take some veggies home with you. We will also be happy to write a letter of reference to confirm that you spent time helping us.
To volunteer, please contact us. Thanks!
